The Secret To Self Accountability #004

Searching for success and happiness?

Self Accountability is not only about making yourself do the thing you said you would do. It's about knowing how.

Today’s episode is probably going to piss some people off.

When I was digging through a list I made of podcast topics I realized that there was a common factor that seemed to play out in most if not all of the subjects that I talk about.

Whether it’s about building a vision, or setting boundaries, having better relationships, growing a business, keeping focused, developing better habits, dealing with the fear of failure, fear of rejection, being more vulnerable, blame, negative self talk, low self-esteem or building confidence, asserting yourself, procrastination, handling constructive criticism or dealing with change.

All of these things, and probably a dozen more I haven’t mentioned, all tie into, in one way or another, two concepts that you should get really clear on in order to move forward and get some progress in these areas of your life.

  1. The first one is Your Bubble. Your attitude, your goals, your drive, your ambition, your fears, your life experiences (or rather how you view them) all stem from YOUR BUBBLE. Your model of the world.

  2. The second one is Self Accountability. Not only holding your own feet to the fire so to speak, but knowing when to do so. Knowing why you don’t. Really knowing yourself. Understanding why you do the things you do.

Stay tuned because near the end of this episode I give you my best step by step tips to having more self accountability and to get a better understanding of your bubble.

On this episode I dig into the question:

Why would you need to take back your life?

  • Maybe it’s because you bit off more than you can chew.

  • Maybe you self sabotage out of fear.

  • Maybe you aren't aligned with the goal.

  • Maybe you had horrible examples of self accountability growing up.

  • Is it because you lack self discipline?

  • Maybe you see self accountability as more of a restriction or punishment rather than as a tool.

  • Is it because you can’t handle the uncertainty of making a decision without knowing the outcome?

  • Is it because you worry so much about what others will think that it affects your choices?

  • Is it because you don’t feel informed enough to make a decision or to take action?

Instead of just asking “how do I stop procrastinating” you need to understand why you do it in the first place.

So I thought we’d use this week’s episode to share some insight with you and give you some tips on how to stop procrastinating or falling short with your goals once and for all.

This subject is a bit taboo these days. Most people just want to hear "how do I find my passion?" or "How do I stop procrastinating?" They don't want to hear the harsh truth, But the truth is what will make all the difference.

So scroll on up the page, pop this episode into your eardrums and let me know if you can relate!

The Biggest Takeaways from this Episode:

  • Why procrastination is the symptom not the problem.

  • How you might be sabotaging yourself both personally and professionally.

  • How to break patterns with a simple question.

  • Why understanding your bubble, your model of the world, is crucial with regard to goals.

  • How your needs play a role in self integrity.

  • What role your attitude your drive your vision your excuses and your fears all play with regard self integrity and reaching goals.

  • Understanding your WHY's.

Imagine what your life could be like if finished everything you started. If you followed through reliably without pushing or nagging or any external motivation.

Imagine what goals and dreams you could achieve if you always practiced self integrity.

So take some time to get to know yourself. Really ask yourself why you might be playing the blame game or getting distracted or procrastinating or biting off more than you can chew.

When you really know yourself you can run with your strengths, build up your weaknesses and get some real traction in your journey to taking back your life.
