Bridging The Gap From Where You Are To Where You Want To Be. #003

The journey to Taking Back Your Life often starts with one asking the question "how do I Bridge The Gap between where I am now and where I actually WANT to be."

Maybe you’re on the path of what you thought would be your dream job, only to find out that it isn’t so dreamy.

Maybe you have secret dreams that you’ve tucked away for safekeeping that you'll get to 'one day'.

Maybe you're going along in life, seemingly fine, but then one day, out of the blue, you start to feel a sense of regret, disappointment, sadness, frustration or even curiosity.

Suddenly you realize, or maybe it has been nagging at you for a while, that although your life is good, maybe even great, it isn’t the life you truly want.

Maybe you always dreamt of traveling and have yet to leave the state.

Maybe you always wanted to be an author and haven’t written one word, unless you count to do lists and grocery lists.

Maybe you always thought you would be a public speaker but the closest you get to that now is yelling for your kid across the parking lot.

Or maybe you love cooking and always wanted to own your own restaurant but you feel more like a short order cook at Denny’s.

If any of these resonate with you, or if you can think of similar “dreams or goals” that float off in the distance, then I will submit that you may not be living the life you really want or could be living.

And you're not alone. Millions of people have or may wake up one day and realize they are living a life that although it may be pretty good, even great by some standards, isn't the life they wanted. It doesn't leave them feeling fulfilled.

If you find yourself in relationships that frustrate you, drain you or leave you feeling like a benched ball player;

If you find yourself at a job that sucks the life out of you, or doesn’t challenge you, or makes you feel like you're always in need of a vacation;

If you find yourself making excuses for not doing the things you want to do;

If you crawl into or out of bed more often than not feeling a sense of dread or feeling defeated you're probably not living your best life.

When I first started to realize, many years ago, that my life was not fully mine, I had no idea why, or for that matter, what I should or could do to take it back.

I only knew that if I kept going the way I was, people pleasing, pushing my own needs, feelings and desires aside, I would not be living MY life, but rather a life expected of me or at best, driven by fear and the opinions and expectations of others.

Have you ever felt like that?

Like you're going through the motions?

Like you’re watching your life pass you by?

That's why put together this podcast episode. To help you finally get some clarity around where you are and where you want to be.

And to let you know that it is NOT selfish to want a life that excites you and fills you up.

On this episode I dig into the question:

How do I bridge the gap from where I am to where I want to be in life?

  • Maybe you feel like it's selfish to chase your goals.

  • Maybe your health or fitness level isn’t where you would like it to be.

  • Maybe you're disappointed in your career or business or want to take it to the next level.

  • Maybe you would like richer friendships and relationships.

  • Maybe you struggle with setting or reaching your goals.

  • Maybe you just want to feel more joy and satisfaction in your life.

Whatever the reason is, and there may be more than one, I know there definitely was for me, you want something more out of your life.

So I thought we’d use this week’s episode to break it all down for you and give you some tips on how to finally bridge that gap!

I want you to know you’re not alone if you feel stuck or like you're on the wrong path. I have been where you are now. Millions have. The question is, will you stay stuck or make a change?

If you are ready to make that change, or at least curious what it would take, scroll on up the page, pop this episode into your eardrums and let me know if you can relate!

The Biggest Takeaways from this Episode:

  • How the events that happen to us along the path of life affect where we are today (and how to change that).

  • How you might be sabotaging yourself and not even know it.

  • How certainty plays a role in the way our lives play out.

  • How you're not only depriving yourself.

  • How getting real with your stories opens you up to new possibilities.

  • How a simple question can get you back on track.

  • What role alignment plays in bridging that gap.

You don’t have to toss out a good life to make it great. You don’t have to burn the boats.

You just need to acknowledge your desires. Get real with why you want them, and ask yourself if you are ready willing and able to finally do something about them.

It’s not selfish to want to live a life that excites you. It’s only selfish if hurts others in the process.

So close that gap today with one simple, well thought through decision, or stand in the gap and wish you had.
